FAMILY & FRIENDS HONORING

GUS

Sent from Heaven

Day 1

We had a beautiful Magnolia tree delivered this morning and around 1pm Jason, Logan and I were deciding where to plant it. Logan took me on a short ride down the driveway where we could see it from afar and when we came back he noticed this white dove sitting on our walkway. Jason was only about 20 feet away from it and none of us ever saw it fly in. It walked straight up the driveway past him as we sat in awe. We cried tears of wonder and comfort. It is 13 days after our 13 yr old met Jesus. I know that this dove is a sign from God that Gus is safe with Him and that God’s Spirit is with us. In the Bible, the dove is a recurring symbol of the presence of the Holy Spirit, purity, and peace. Thank you Jesus It has not left since we found it (going on 9 hours now) and is currently perched on the gable over Logan’s window.

Day 3
She decided it was too cold for the roof and took shelter in the warmth of the hay bales overnight.

Day 13

We saw her yesterday over by the cows, today she was MIA….She showed up on the 13th day. Did she also leave on the 13th day?

We have wonderfully received a second star named after Gus. Thank you so much whoever sent it.  I’d love you to let us know who you are.

Having two stars named after our sweet boy will be so special, as if his eyes are peering down on us from the heavens.

Amazing. God bless you

Portrait

One of Gus’s sweet friends gifted us a beautiful framed portrait of Gus that she drew. It is so beautiful. She also brought me two necklaces. One is a green and gold Kendra Scott pendant, and the other a guardian Angel heart with wings pendant. It means so much to me Sophia, because I know you poured your heart into this art. You are a very special girl. Gus was blessed to have you in his life, and we will cherish this gift forever. We hope to continue seeing your beautiful smile throughout the years. Thank you for being his friend.

Zach Bryan Concert

Remembering you through music. Thank you Dustin and Kelly for this special gift. Gus had to be Zach Bryan’s biggest fan. He knew every word and every note. He studied lyrics and waited for the new songs to drop with joyful anticipation. I remembered every memory of his concert with Gus back in May. The joy on his face when those first notes were played in that arena. He was in pure bliss. I carried him with me in spirit, for this second round, vibrantly alive in my heart. Always and forever my beautiful boy. LLGG

Wooden Flag

Gus’s friend Cameron made this flag in AG class in honor of Gus. He gifted it to us today along with a dozen roses. He wrote a sweet message and a Bible verse on the back. What a beautiful gesture from and for a very dear friend. We visited Gus’s room and grave. As hard as I know it was for Cameron, I hope it aids in his grief process as I can only imagine how heavy this must feel for all of Gus’s friends. Thank you and God bless you Cameron. You are always welcome here.

Ornament

Annabel and I put the tree up yesterday. She has always loved to decorate. After we got tired she was looking on Amazon for ideas for her Christmas list. She is asking for this photo ornament that she personalized with a picture of her and Gus from the fair. I usually took a photo of all three of the kids together but Logan drove himself this year. I was a little disappointed not to have a pic of all three like I always would but now I realize that this picture is the last frame worthy photo of these two.

Blanket

Thankful for this beautiful blanket given to us from Sylke and Danny Jackson with some of my favorite photos to look at.

It shows Gus doing a lot of his favorite things; fishing, hunting, Florida, ZB concert, and rides at the fair.

Cherished Memories

Thank you Brittany and Stephen Maune for such thoughtful and special gifts in memory of our Gussie. We would never imagine that this family photo would be our last family vacation with him. We will always cherish these moments.

Cherished Memories

Portrait 2.jpg

My best friend is amazing. She is an art teacher with the biggest heart. I have no doubt God gave her to me because he knew I needed someone special. Amanda lead this amazing project along with Gus’s past art teachers to create this very special art piece of Gus. They each worked on a section and completed the piece as a collaborative effort.

This is such a heartfelt project we will cherish forever. Thank you so much sweet friend and all who poured their talents into this project.

We love it so much and it will be placed on a prominent wall in our home. Thank you Amanda Butenhoff, Christy Machelett, Emily Ratcliff, Jenny Kretz Willis.

UMS Memorial

We are blessed beyond measure to have such a loving and supportive community.

Dove Puzzle

Thursday we had some family stop by and also some chosen family. My friend Danyell brought over a really pretty puzzle of a Dove a couple weeks ago but it is high level of difficulty and progress was slow. Yesterday our nephew Gage got a portion put together and later Matt came up with a strategy. We made a lot of progress yesterday. I’m thankful for friends who will be present with us even when life is rough and we aren’t the best company.
